Braniff International Airways Boeing 707-138       N107BN         (c/n 18739)

In 1969 Braniff acquired four Boeing 707-138s from Qantas, to fill a capacity need. .  These were
among the last aircraft acquisitions of the 'old' Braniff International, which is why I have placed them
chronologically at the end of the airline's listing.  For a footnote on the fate of this original carrier
see
                                     the entry for the DC-8.
Three of them are shown here in images taken by Neville Parnell at Sydney in June/July 1969 as the
aircraft were being prepared for Braniff.  They are:
                                     Above:
N107BN which was ex VH-EBL,    The lime green livery was later exchanged for a bright
red one in the early 1970s.
N107BN later went to Merpati Nusantara in Indonesia as PK-MBA and
then was registered back in the US (as N46D) before being scrapped at Shannon in 1993.
Below (i)    N106BN, ex VH-EBJ  went to Montana Flugdienst GMBH as OE-INA, later to Egyptair
as SU-FAA and was scrapped at Cairo in the late 1980s.
Below (ii)   N108BN, ex VH-EBM after being stored from 1973 to 1975 went to TAG Aviation Group
in both their Saudi Arabian Division and also in the US (still, apparently, as N108BN).   It was eventually
re-regiustered N707XX in July 1990.   In May 1998 it was acquired by John Travolta t/a Jet Clipper
Johnny LLC and re-registered N707JT.         In 2002 it was repainted in full Qantas V-Jet livery for a
                                     marketing campaign.     It is.still current.
