Skycoach Express   Curtiss C-46  N1628M                            (c/n  33060)

                                     

                                          Skycoach Express was formed in 1953 by Irving E. Herman.   It operated irregular scheduled
                                          passenger flights from California to Reno and Las Vegas with a couple of C-46s.      N5616V
                                          was the other one.  Bill Larkins' above photo was taken at its Oakland base in 1954, just prior
                                          to the non-sked folding.    N1628M was sold to Regina Airlines.    In 1960 it went to Taxader
                                          Columbia as HK-792.    It crashed after catching fire whilst landing at Pointe-a-Pitre on 28 Oct
                                          1970 when working for Aerocosta Columbia.
