Mid-Continent Airlines Douglas DC-3  NC34950          (c/n  7399)

                                          

                                              This DC-3 was an ex C-53-DO acquired by MCA in 1946.  It passed to the Braniff Airways
                                              asset register in August 1952 when that company took over Mid-Continent.  By that time the
                                              carrier was operating a fleet of 23 Douglas DC-3's and four Convair 240's over 6,241 unduplicated
                                              route miles, and serving 35 cities from Minneapolis/St. Paul and the Dakotas in the north to Houston
                                              and New Orleans in the south.  N34950 was sold to Lake Central Airlines in 1959.  Somewhere
                                              around 1948 the livery was changed, dropping the "Airlines' and changing the logo aft of the door
                                              as seen on N21914 in this Leo Kohn shot below at Chicago. C/n 4965, N21914 was an original
                                              DC-3-414A formerly with United as NC33686.  It also went to Braniff in 1952.
