ZK-CLX Lockheed L-188C Electra
(c/n 2007)

When TEAL wrote off their ZK-TEC* in a
training accident on 27 March 1965, Qantas sold them
VH-ECC to plug
the gap in their fleet, It became ZK-CLX and Greg Banfield saw it
at Mascot on
3 May 1965 just as it was about to
depart for New Zealand.
The Electra,
named "Akaroa", landed heavily following a flight idle approach to
Whenuapai.
One
of the main gear legs failed and the aircraft caught fire.
