G-AUCH Bristol Monoplane
M.1c
(c/n 2819)
This rare shot is from the Kevin
OReilly collection and shows the Bristol Monoplane owned by
Harry Butler and Harry Kauper which was
first registered in June 1921. It was known as "The
Red Devil". I am not sure whether it ever actually carried the
rego G-AUCH. The gentlemen
in the
close up below are Harry Kauper and Captain Harry Butler, A.F.C.
The little
Bristol
was
struck off the rregister in June
1922 and restored as VH-UQI At
that time the 110 hp Le
Rhone engine seen on
the front end here was replaced with a 98 hp Gipsy Mk. I.
