VH-PIP (2)  Cessna 172D Skyhawk                               (c/n  17250521)

                                 

                                      VH-PIP was registered to Pip Borrman , Swan Hill, in October 1964    It had previously been
                                      VH-DIM.  At the time Borrman was about 11 years old and had been flying, under his father’s
                                      instruction, for two years in a Tiger Moth, also registered VH-PIP. (It was reregistered VH-RIP
                                      when Boorman bought the Cessna).  .     Borrman senior died  when his Tiger Moth flipped in
                                      1975 while Pip, who had become a champion aerobatic pilot, was killed at Shepparton in 2009
                                      while practising a routine in his Pitts Samson   . By then, VH-PIP had long been sold and when
                                      David Carter photographed it (above) at Canberra in April 1977 it was owned by a pilot from
                                      nearby Queanbeyan.     In October 1988, the Skyhawk was reregistered VH-SQK for Mulligan
                                      Drilling, of Khancoban, NSW and was still with them in December 2016
