VH-KEA  Auster J/1 Autocrat                                (c/n  2114)

                                

                                     Built as a regular Autocrat in 1947, this aircraft was exported from its Rearsby (Leicestershire) birth
                                     place to Uganda as VP-UAJ.   It was sold to Noon and Pearce in Nairobi in 1948 becoming VP-KDZ. 
                                     Sometime after its importation into Australia in 1961 it was re-engined with a Lycoming as seen in the
                                     shot above by Bob Neate (via the Geoff Goodall collection) circa 1965.  VH-KEA was withdrawn
                                     from the register in December 1966 following its destruction by fire on the ground at Lakes Entrance,
                                     Victoria on 19 November of that year.   Arson was suspected.
