VH-EBW  (1)   Short S25 Sandringham 4                                     (c/n  SH.30C)

In 1950 Qantas acquired two Sandringhams from Tasman Empire Airlines and three more from
BOAC the following year.  VH-EBW was the former ZK-AMB.    It only lasted some fourteen
months with Qantas, as it crashed on take off from Port Vila harbour, New Hebrides when trying
to avoid a powered dug-out canoe which entered its path.    The above shot, courtesy of Qantas
shows it at rest on the harbour bottom.  It was later scuttled after the engines and other gear had
                                      been removed.
