Northrop A-17

110 Northrop A-17 attack bombers were acquired
by the Army Air Coirps in the late 1930s.
They were followed
by some 129 A-17As which had a retractable undercarriage (see equally
poor image
below). A number of these dependable
aircraft were exported. All were obsolete
by the time the US
entered WW II in 1941,
although some A-17As served as trainers.
