                                     The Kellett Aircraft Company had been founded by W. Wallace Kellett in 1930 and were
                                     a leading autogiro company.  They were the original licensee of the patent held by the Autogiro
                                     Company of America.   In 1944 they turned their hand to developing true powered rotary
                                     wing craft.  The intermeshing rotors of this early chopper soon earned it the nickname "Egg-
                                     beater".  The machine seen above was the second prototype  and was redesignated as the
                                     XH-8 before the military abandoned the Kellett design in favor of Sikorky's VS-300 series.
