Bristol 26 Pullman C4298
The Pullman was an extensive
modification of the Braemar bomber designed for air travel in the
immediate post WW I
era. Unfortunately neither the travelling public, nor the
fledgling airlines
could muster the funds necessary to
exploit travel on such luxurious lines and sustain the operation
of such a large
aircraft. The Pullman carried 14 passengers in what was
considered sumptuous
accommodation in those
days. However, the noise emanating from the four 400 hp Liberty
engines
resonating through the
fabric fuselage must have been unbelievable. In fact,
the well positioned
cockpit was probably
considerably quieter!
