I-DOVA  Convair 440-81 Metropolitan                            (c/n  392)

                                 

                                     The 3 Convair 340s were augmented, in 1957 by three "true" 440s (the 340s were converted to
                                     that standard later).  The radar nose of the Metropiltan made that airliner rather rakish, I always
                                     thought.   The Convairs were soon outclassed by the Viscounts in Alitalia service and this one
                                     was sold to the Italian Air Force as MM61898 in 1961.
