G-AGMG Avro 691 Lancastrian I
(c/n 1187)

Another shot from the vast Jennifer Gradidge
collection. Was to have been VF161 for the RAF
but probably went directly
to BOAC and used when the airline resurrected its trans-Atlantic
services
to Montreal immediately after WW
II. This photograph can be dated to the late 1940s, since the air-
craft in the background, G-AKPZ a
Lancastrian C. Mk. 4, was scrapped in April 1949. G-AGMG
("Nicosia")
was broken up at Hurn in January of 1951.
