D-AERE Focke-Wulf FW 200V1

The
Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor was designed by Kurt Tank in 1936 to a
Deutsche Lufthansa
specification for a long range airliner. D-AERE was the prototype
and first flew on 27 July 1937
piloted by Kurt
Tank himself. Power was
supplied with 4 Pratt & Whitney Hornet S1E-G
engines of 875 hp each. This Condor was reregistered
in 1938 as D-ACON and named
'Brandenburg'. It
flew a remarkable non-stop flight from Berlin to New York. ,
Later
on 28
November 1938 it made anotheR historic flight from Berlin to Tokyo.
However,
shortly after
leaving Tokyo it was written off in an emergency lading in the
Philippines.
