XA-DOT Douglas C-39
(c/n 2075)

XA-DOT was one of approximately 35 hybrid
aircraft built by Douglas in 1939 for the Army Air
Corps. This one was formerly 38-518. It was basically a
DC-2 with a DC-3 fin. Pan American's
timetables referred to them as DC-2 1/2s . This aircraft
appears to have gone straight to CMA from
the
military in 1941 without being registered in the US first. It was
withdrawn from use in 1944.
