VT-AKM  de Havilland D.H.86 Express                              (c/n 2306)

                                 

                                        In 1938 Tata was included in the Empire Air Mail Scheme with a ten year contract on the Karachi-
                                        Colombo route.   To fly this schedule the fleet of D.H.89As was augmented with the Express seen
                                        above..  This aircraft was formerly Qantas' VH-UUA.   With the advent of hostlities in the far East
                                        the D.H.86 was impressed into RAF service as HX789
