TC-ARI de Havilland D.H.89 Dragon
Rapide
(c/n 6315)
Here's an interesting shot from the
Jerry Elmas collection of one of four Dragon Rapides
operated by Devlet Hava Yollari
- Turkish Air Lines before WW II. TC-ARI was built
as G-ADUM and
shipped to Turkey in May of 1936. The Rapides were used on
Istanbul
- Ankara services
and were later replaced by a similar number of D.H. 86B Express
machines.
After the war the fabric covered
de Havillands were replaced with a large fleet of DC-3s
although
I suspect that this shot of TC-ARI was, in fact, taken post war.
