CR-AAE de Havilland D.H.89A Dragon
Rapide
(c/n 6362)
DETA in Mozambique operated half a dozen
Rapides (plus one D.H.90 Dragonfly) on local
routes within the Portugese possession in the 1940s and 50s. This
shot, from the John Heggblom
collection, was taken by his father, the late "Connie" Heggblom in situ
in the colony in 1953.
Named 'Beira' (after the capital) at the
time, the aircraft had previously carried the name
"Inhambane".
