CF-BIM
Stinson SR-9FM
(c/n 5729)
This Stinson was imported new in 1938 for McIntyre
Porcupine Mines. It then went to Ontario
Provincial Air
Services. In 1949 it
was purchased by Northland Aviation Company
of Timmins,
Ontario in whose
markings it is seen here, probably at their base in South Porcupine.
Walter Wolfe
advises
that the Stinson
was sold off after the
death of his grandfather
(founder of Northland), and
it wound
up in
Yellowknife. It is
still current and is owned by Cowboy Air
Services Ltd of Sherwood
Park,
Alberta. I am indebted to Walter for the image (below) taken from
a
color slide of this classic
old bird
mounted on skis.
