                                           Developed from the earlier civilian N-23 Pioneer.   The USAF ordered 23 of these three
                                           engine transports primarily for Arctic rescue work.   This one was formerly 48-0636, and was
                                           purchased by a Mexican operator upon being declared surplus.  It wound up in the Pima Air
                                           Museum in Arizona, as my shot above, taken in the late1990s, illustrates.
