Howard GH-1  Nightingale  N58855         (c/n  995)

The GH-1 was the military version of the pre-war Howard DGA-15 (Damned Good Airplane).
The US Navy used them for communications and ambulance duties.  This one, shot at Hawthorne
Municipal in the early 1960s, is still registered to an owner in Texas.  Below is a floatplane version.
This aircraft was originally built as a DGA-15P in 1942 but was immediately impressed into
service as a GH-1.  It became NC58834 when demobbed in 1946.  I saw it at Renton Seaplane
Base in Washington state in June 1961.  It was sold in Canada in 1962 and became CF-OGL,
`                                         and was registered to a user in Yellowknife, NWT    .  Back in states (date unknown) it was
registered N912BW before being re-registered as its original N58834 in the 2000s..  Is it still
                                         a floatplane?
