Bell P-63A
Kingcobra NX90805
This
Bell P-63 languished out in the open at Van Nuys for twenty years in
the 40s,50s and 60s.
I took this
photograph in 1959, by which time it was well and truly showing signs
of wear.
Fortunately it was rescued
in the nick of time by Ronald Hasz, and at least put in a hangar.
Warbirds of GB purchased it in 1992 and sold it on. It is now
owned by Frank Borman/Picacho
Aviation of Fairacres,
NM. (It was restored to airworthy condition by Planes of
Fame in Chino,
California
during 1996-98). It is now resplendent in olive drab as 42-69021,
its original USAAC
serial (civil
registration is N163FS).
