Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander  N55JA                       (c/n  295)

The BN-2 Islander was a mid 1960s Desmond Norman design produced with manufacturing
expertise by the late John Britten in a plant on the Isle of Wight, in the U.K.   Financial problems
over the years resulted in the aircraft being built outside of the U.K. but the enterprise has now
been repatriated and is again producing aircraft at the Bembridge, IOW, location.   The US
imports were imported by Jonas Aviation, the distributor, and hence initially all had "JA" suffix
regos.  This one was (and still is, I believe) owned by Channels Islands Aviation out of Camarillo
Airport, California and was available for charter/hire.
