Taylor Aerocar      N103D       (c/n  2)


                                       

                                              This interesting convertible aircraft and roadable two seater was designed by Moulton Taylor
                                              in 1949.    The production model, of which only three or four were built, first flew in 1953.
                                              The engine was a 135 hp Lycoming O-290-D2 and provided front wheel auto drive and
                                              drove a pusher airscrew aft of the tail assembly.   This machine was photographed at Van
                                              Nuys in 1961 when it was still airworthy.  Various attempts have been made to resurrect
                                              the design and as late as 2000 plans were afoot to marry a Lotus Elise sports car to a set
