Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser    N3297M                  (c/n  12-2153)


                                 

                                     The PA-12 and the externally similar PA-14 Family Cruiser were post war developments of the
                                     J-5 series Cub Cruiser. The PA-12 was a three seater powered by a 104 hp Lycoming O-235-C
                                     engine. It first flew in 1946.  I do not possess particularly good images of a PA-12.  Even in the late
                                     50s and early 60s, they were not easily found.   The above example was photographed at Van Nuys
                                     in 1961.  Piper's publicity photograph (of the fourth production model and added to my collection
                                     in 1949) is not particularly good, either (below).
