Wright Airlines Convair
440 N4401
(c/n 483)
In 1972 Wright received CAB certification as
a scheduled interstate carrier and added two Convair
440s to its modest fleet of Riley Herons and Twin Otters. Service
was still limited to the Cleveland-
Detroit run. The two aircraft were ex Executive Airlines
machines which had been repossessed by
the First
National Bank of Boston. N4401, seen in the shot above by
Bob Garrard at Cleveland's
Burke
Lakefront Airport was originally Mohawk Airlines' 'Airchief Black Hawk'. Both CV
440s
were sold off when the airline acquired Convair 600s.
