West Indian Aerial
Express Keystone K-47A (NC)1612 (c/n 137)
This ancient Keystone Pathfinder was the pride of
the fleet of West Indian Aerial Express
registered in
Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic. It flew a route from Santiago,
Cuba to
San
Juan, Puerto Rico in 1927/8. However, without the luxury of an
Air Mail contract the
company
was forced to sell out to Pan American in December of 1928. The
Keystone was
powered by three
220 h..p. Wright J-5 Whirlwinds.
