United Air Lines Douglas DC-6 NC37502
(c/n 42867)
United used to like to take publicity
photographs over San Francisco. This one is particularly lovely,
with
the Oakland Bay Bridge clearly seen under the aircraft's
nose. It was delivered at the end of
1946
and was named "Mainliner New York". This aircraft flew
transcontinental services with the
airline
until 1969 when it was broken up at Tracy, California.
