Thompson Aeronautical Corporation Stinson SM-1D Detroiter
Corporation was founded early in 1928 and won the air mail bid from the
route from Bay City, Michigan to Chicago (CAM 27). This was
later extended to Detroit and
Cleveland. The airline operating arm of
Thompson became a subsidiary of the parent company in
1931 and became Transamerican
Airlines. Interestingly the 'TAC'; logo seen on the
above was retained after the renaming to Transamerican. .
Thompson was acquired
by American Airways in 1932.
