Transcontinental
& Western Air Northrop Delta 1-A (N)X12292
(c/n 3)
The Northrop Delta was basically
an enlarged Gamma with accommodation for 8 passengers. It
was introduced in 1934 but unfortunately a series of
crashes right after, or during its certification,
resulted in a government edict
prohibiting the use of large single engined airliners on the routes of
trunk carriers (of which TWA was one).
In the event the above aircraft was the only one delivered
to
the airline, the others becoming executive transports (which weren't
bound by the stipulation).
