Southern Airways
Swearingen SA-226TC Metroliner II N70A
(c/n TC241)
When
the Martins were finally disposed of, and the airline
became an all DC-9 outfit, certain stations
were
too small in which to
profitably run pure jet
service and hence a
small fleet of eight Metroliners
was acquired in 1977. N70A is
seen in typical pose on the ramp at Hartsfield in July of 1978 in this
nice shot by Mick Bajcar.
The Metroliners were
sold off when the airline
merged with North Central
to
become Republic in
1979.
