Northwest
Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-9-51 N784NC
(c/n 48109)
Here's a striking shot by
Michael F. McLaughlin of a NWA DC-9-51 departing Pierre Elliot
Trudeau International on a snowy day in December
2001 (what else, in Montreal in winter?).
Like all of
this model, this aircraft came as a result of the merger with Republic
Airlines in 1986.
It was with North Central before
that and was never re-registered into either Republic's "RC"
or Northwest's "US" suffixes. In 2003 Northwest announced the
first revised livery scheme
since 1989 and by 2005 most of NWA's fleet had been repainted into it.
An excellent example
is the shot seen below taken by Jason Ernster on
approach to Minneapolis' Wold Chamberlin
Field in
June of that year.
