National Airlines
McDonnell-Douglas DC-10-30 N82NA
(c/n 46713)
Another of Bob Garrard's excellent images. Miami International,
May 1975. The aircraft was
named 'Marienne' at
the time, although went on to be renamed both 'Bob Hope' then 'Sammy
Davis Jr'.
In 1970 National was granted
rights for services to Europe and the Miami-LHR (London Heathrow)
route was opened. The European service would later be expanded to
include Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich
and Frankfort.
Originally operated with the Boeing 747, the DC-10 was later to augment
and replace
these aircraft. N82NA
passed to the Pan
Am asset register when National was absorbed by that
carrier
in 1980.
