Mohawk Airlines Convair
440 Metropolitan N4401 (c/n
483)
In
1959, to augment its Convair 240s, Mohawk acquired a small fleet of
Convair Metropolitans
which had originally been built
for the Costa Rican carrier LACSA, but not taken up. This
Metropolitan was named
"Air Chief Black Hawk" and
flew with the airline for eleven years,
being finally sold to
Executive
Airlines (and later
repossessed by the bank) in 1971. By the
1990s it was
hauling freight in Haiti and registered HH-OMA.
