Hawaiian Airlines de Havilland of Canada DHC-7 N890S
(c/n 13)
Hawaiian Air ordered four DHC-7
STOL airliners in 1981 for certain of their inter-island runs
which had short
runways. Four more second hand examples were purchased in the mid
1980s.
They kept them for a decade and
then, following airport improvements at the smaller locations
allowing operation of their
pure jets, they were sold off This shot by Colin Zuppicich
of Hamilton,
N.Z. was taken at Honolulu International in
1988. N890S was an ex Air Wisconsin machine
although, unlike a couple of the
other used ones, had been repainted in full HAL livery.
