Hammonds Air
Service DHC-6 Twin Otter 300 N304CH
(c/n 766)
Hammonds Air Service began
operations in September 1977 from a base at Houma, La. It was
the scheduled
operating division of a long-established (and still existing) charter
company (Charlie
Hammonds Flying
Service). Daily services linked the Louisiana communities of
Houma, Morgan
City/Patterson
Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette with Houston Hobby Airport, and
also
with Pensacola and
Panama City, Florida. The last scheduled flight was made in
August 1974.
At least twenty
aircraft were used over the years, primarily Piper Navajo Chieftains,
but also
including two Twin
Otters, one of which is seen above.
