This ex C-53D-DO (42-68718) seen
loading at Denver's Stapleton Airport in 1947 is displaying the
Continental livery used
right after WW II. Continental replaced its Lodestars in
1948 with DC-3s.
This one went on to serve with Southern
Airlines and wound up in Cuba with Cubana de Aviacion
as CU-T127. Seen
below is the gleaming nose of the aircraft immediately after it had
been converted
from a military
transport. Note name "City of Denver", and open cowling gills.
