Central Airlines
Convair 240 N74850
(c/n 74)
By 1960 the airline
had a need to augment its DC-3s, and also to provide an upgraded
service on
some of its more prestigious routes (Dallas
to Kansas City; Tulsa to Little Rock). It consequently
acquired eight Convair 240s (six from American Airlines, two from
Ethiopian). The nice shot above
came from a post card acquired from
Central in 1962. N74850 had originally been
delievered to
American as "Flagship Akron" in
1948. Central had it converted to a Convair 600.
