American Airways Fokker
F.10 Unknown
In their bid to become a transcontinental
airline, American Airways absorbed many smaller lines in
the 1930-31 period. In so doing they
acquired some sixteen or so Fokker F.10s. The majority of
these came from
Southern Air Fast Express (SAFE) whilst three or four came from other
carriers,
notably Transamerican Airlines and
Robertson. The above shot, from an American house journal
circa 1947, does not identify the individual machine, but doubtless it
was used on American's Southern
Transcontinetal Division routes.
