Allegheny
Airlines Fairchild F-27J N2703J
(c/n 114)
Allegheny were somewhat late in ordering prop-jet
airliners. Of course, they had their converted
Convair 580s, but did not get their F-27s until late in
1965. In the event these were soon eclipsed
by the pure
jets and this one only remained in service until 1968 when it was sold
in to GNA in
Canada
as CF-GNG. It was written off in a crash at at Inovik on 20 Dec
1969. The above
image is from Fairchild Aircraft, and shows the aircraft in pristine
condition.
