Air New
England DHC-6 Twin Otter 300 N386EX
(c/n 248)
By 1971 Air New England had commenced an
aggressive expansion program and services were
extended from Boston to as far north as Waterville, Maine and as far
south as New York City.
The Twin
Otters were used to service the local runs to New Bedford, Hyannis,
Marthas Vine-
yard and
Nantucket. Above is an evocative shot by Howard Chaloner of
a ANE Twin Otter
loading
at Lebanon, N.H. in August 1977. Over a
dozen Twin Otters (100s, 200s and 300s)
were
acquired, this one coming from Frontier Airlines in 1974.
