This
color illustration came from a post card gleaned from
Air Illinois in the 1970s. Air Illinois
was a commuter line founded in 1970 in
Carbondale, Illinois. It commenced services with two
Beechcraft 99s and
then acquired eight
Twin Otters 200s and 300s during the 1970s and early
1980s.
N123SL was a new machine, delivered in December 1980. Air
Illinois was one of the
few airlines to operate from Chicago's
downtown airport, Meigs Field.
