ZK-AZM Douglas
DC-3CS1C3G (c/n 16730/33478)
Another C-47B-35-DK. Was
RNZAF's NZ3547. Loaned to NZNAC as ZK-AZM in
1953.
Converted to freighter standard at De Havilland's Wellington facility
in 1961. (It
is seen above in passenger service
in the mid-1950s). Withdrawn from NAC service in
1966 and returned to the RNZAF as
NZ3547. Converted to paradropper at Christchurch
and delivered to 42 Squadron on 28
July 1967. Finally withdrawn from use in New Zealand
in 1977, and sold off to K. Neely.
In 1980 it was sold in Singapore and from there went to
Island Associates, Moroni, Comoros
Republic as D6-CAD. Ferried ex Auckland to Singapore
on 31 January 1978. Then to
the South African Air Force as 6865. Converted to C-47TP
(Turbo-Prop) and then abandoned
and stored dismantled at Wonderboom, South Africa.
To Dodson Aviation, Hutchinson, Kansas,
USA as N8190X on 14 July 1998.
Still at Wonderboom in April 2004, with
no engines and with main gear removed
