ZK-AUP
de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHNZ106)
Here's an aggie Tiger in its element. Actually, in a
field full of sheep. Must've made for
some
interesting landings, at times, I would suspect. NZ1426 in
the RNZAF, this air-
craft
was allocated to the Wellington Aero Club in 1949 who did not use it,
but sold it
on to Aerial
Fertilising Co Ltd of Wellington. The aircraft was named "Holly" whilst
operating with the company, although my shot, despite its graininess
does not seem to
show the
name. ZK-AUP was sold to Taranaki Aerial Services Ltd
in 1956. From
there it
was exported to Fiji, becoming VQ-FAW. It was operated by a
company called
Air Viti
Ltd and was withdrawn from use in 1960.
