ZK-ATP Auster J/1B Aiglet
(c/n 2650)
This photograph was taken by James Dyson and comes courtesy of the
David Molesworth
collection. ZK-ATP was
operated by Aircraft
Engineering Ltd of Hastings when this image
was taken,
circa 1953. This concern had modified the craft somewhat by
building up the
rear
decking, making it
look somewhat like an
Autocar. The rear fuselage looks very dented and
warped in this
shot. Anyway, the aircraft undershot a landing at
Greenstone on 6 July 1960
and was damaged beyond
economic repair.
It was stricken from the register in 1962.
