ZK-ASZ  Fairchild 24W41A Argus II                                      (c/n  859)

                                  

                                           Two shots of this ex-RAF Argus.  The above was taken by Ken Meeham in 1949 whilst the
                                           lower image is my shot some years later.    Originally civilianized as G-AJSM, this machine
                                           was imported earl;y in 1949 for A.V.Hunter, t/a Rotorua Air Tourist Ltd. It carried the name
                                           'Rangi'.  It was sold to James Aviation of Hamiton in 1951, and to B. Hedley of Waioa two
                                           years later.   It made a forced landing at Wairoa in 1957 (engine failure) and was withdrawn
                                           from use.
