ZK-ARI de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHNZ71)
This New Zealand
built Tiger was NZ821 with the RNZAF. After the war it was sold
to
Aircraft Service Ltd of Wigram in
1947. It was then sold to F. McKeever of Onehunga
after overhaul by Aircraft Service and
used as company hack during 1948-1949 with the
titling "Monkey Airways" on the
cowling. The above shot shows it in those days. It
went
then to Auckland Aviation Services
as a topdresser in 1950. It was restored as a two
seat training aircraft in 1956 but
crashed at Waimaramara on 2 February 1957 killing the
pilot Euan Bowman. The aircraft was
totally destroyed.
