ZK-AQD  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth               (c/n  DHA499)


                                 

                                      This was a de Havilland (Australia) Pty Ltd built Tiger which was delivered to the Royal New
                                      Zealand Air Force in December of 1941 as NZ1413.  When declared surplus (1948) it was
                                      sold to the Piako Aero Club of Whenuapai.  That club carried a fleet number on the tail, as Jim
                                      Dyson's shot above (via David Molesworth) illustrates. Number seven was sold to Aircraft
                                      Services Ltd in 1952 for use as a topdresser.   It later went to Thames Aerial Topdressing Co
                                      Ltd.   ZK-AQD crashed near Kerata on 20 February 1956 and was written off.
