ZK-AOP Lockheed
18-56 Lodestar (c/n 2508)
This shot was taken under the wing of another Lodestar at
Wellington in 1949. ZK-AOP was
built as
a Lockheed C-60A-5-LO with the serial 42-56035. It then went to
the RAAF becoming
A67-1, the
first Lodestar for that service, where it was allocated the call sign
VHRAA. It was
sold
to NZNAC in 1947 (for nineteen hundred quid!) and named
"Koropio" Like most of
NZNAC's
Lodestars it was repatriated back to the US in 1952 as
N4646V. A complete history
of this
machine
