ZK-BLN de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHNZ110)
Here's
a rarity. A Tiger with spats. This aircraft had actually
been on loan to the Wellington
Aero Club in 1950-51
whilst still officially on the strength of the in RNZAF as
NZ1430. It was
then in storage until 1956 when it was purchased by M. Tulloch of
Mataura. When the C of A
expired in 1959 it was
sold back to Bush Aviation and used for spares until that Company was
sold to Hewett
Aviation. It was rebuilt in 1962 as ZK-CCH and sold to J. Crombie of
Gore.
The rebuild utilized parts
from ZK-BLM (NZ1430), ZK-AOO (NZ1478), and ZK-BFL.
ZK-CCH is currently airworthy
(carrying the c/n DHNZ110) with Biplane Adventures in
Wanaka, as their contemporary
image below illustrates.
